Synth-FORC.
Welcome to Synth-FORC, a forward model for simulating first order reversal curves (FORC). The FORC figures are
calculated from (non-interacting) assemblies of micromagnetic models produced using
MERRILL. The four diagrams you can see here correspond to the output of a
single FORC simulation. The top left and top right graphs show log normal distributions for particle size and
aspect ratio respectively. The bottom left and right diagrams are the FORC image and and the FORC loops (from
which the FORC image is derived).
You may change size and aspect-ratio distributions by typing values in the text boxes below. This updates the
distribution envelope (blue line) and pink bars - which represent the relative fraction of particles in our
database that comprise the resulting FORC. When you press the Update FORCs button, the app will update both the
FORC and FORC loop diagrams.
In the above log-normal distributions:
shape, s(y), is the width (standard deviation) of normal distribution of y = ln (grain size).
scale is the geometric mean grain size, and
location is the grain size shift of the distribution from the mean
